Contact UsFire safety is often only considered when something goes wrong. Yet within every commercial, residential or public building, fire protection systems are working quietly in the background — detecting danger, protecting escape routes and preventing the rapid spread of smoke and flames. When properly installed and maintained, these systems save lives.
However, fire safety equipment cannot simply be installed and forgotten. Fire doors, alarms, emergency lighting and extinguishers must be fully compliant, correctly fitted and routinely tested to ensure they perform exactly as intended in an emergency. Even minor faults — a damaged door seal, a disconnected detector, a failed emergency light — can compromise an entire building’s protection strategy.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person has a legal duty to ensure fire safety systems are maintained and fit for purpose. Failure to meet statutory requirements can result in enforcement action, prosecution, invalidated insurance and — most importantly — increased risk to occupants.
Fire door inspections, system servicing and regular compliance testing should go beyond a simple ‘tick-box’ exercise. They must provide clear, documented evidence that your fire protection measures are fully operational, legally compliant and capable of performing when it matters most.
